About Peter & Sharon Garner, Keswick
Sharon & Peter Garner purchased Burnside in 1999 and started taking B&B guests in 2003. Prior to establishing Burnside B&B both had worked in Keswick's catering and holiday industry for many years.
After leaving Keswick School Sharon started work for John Bryson - Master Bakers of Keswick as a trainee confectioner. By the age of 21 Sharon was promoted to Head Confectioner and managed Bryson's Confectionary Dept. as well as working in the evenings as a caterer.
Peter joined his parents in Keswick after they had purchased Lakeside Holiday Park in 1986. Peter's father, Norman, died in 1988 and Peter took over the management of the family business, Norman Garner Ltd. until 1999.
Outside work Sharon enjoys cooking and Peter enjoys eating and both enjoy watching sons Thomas & Harry play rugby for Keswick School, Keswick RUFC & Cumbria. Peter is a keen birdwatcher and has worked as a nest protection warden on local Peregrine Falcon eyries. As well as walking and mountain biking Peter & the boys also enjoy backpacking in the Scottish Highlands - while Sharon looks forward to her annual shopping / theatre trip to London.
